La ruota di preghiera è un oggetto tradizionale molto antico per la pratica del Dharma. Consiste di un mulinello all'interno del quale sono contenuti rotolini di mantra. Facendo girare la ruota l'energia dei mantra contenuti in essa si dirama nelle dieci direzione a beneficio degli esseri e dell'ambiente. Grandi ruote di preghiera si possono vedere, nelle regioni himalayane, all'ingesso dei templi o intorno agli stupa, così che il praticante, facendo la circumambulazione intorno al monumento, possa al tempo stesso attivare le ruote di preghiera generando energia positiva.
